Street finds...and a Moroccan project

There we were, my friend Laila* and I, enjoying the now-rare sunshine and walking down Belmont street to have a sit and sip at hipster-zen Kaiju Cafe (where the bagels and smoked salmon sandwhiches are delicious) with which she was on good terms but with whom I had yet to have the pleasure of being acquainted with when we spied this little diamond-in-the-rough just squatting on the sidewalk:
Don't be fooled by its garish, dusty, Haloweeny-vampire-bordello appearance: this little guy used to be snowy white, then pepto bismol pink and now repulsively matte black and red (vinyl, ew...) Seems this little table has either had a double identity crisis or else belonged to some new-agey person who decided to represent the stages of the woman's cycle by oft repainting their coffee table...anything's possible on Belmont Street...
Luckily the husband was on hand to pull up in our horsedrawn carriage with its four white horses and their shining armor to haul it off so that the ladies could continue on their jaunt to the cafe...meanwhile, ideas were brewing in my head like hot green witches' potion in a cauldron (which we all know is just split pea soup, c'mon...)
That night I ransacked my favorite design blogs, google and my store of pictures for ideas then the following morning proceed to put the sucker outside on the balcony, removed with a grimace the vile vinyl and wiped off the dust...
Frankly, I think it's looking better already. And I do like this little embellishment:
What would you do with this little table?

I'll keep you posted as the project progresses...right now I have to find out how to remove wood glue (any tips, anyone?) from where a particle-board table top was glued (then screwed) down.

*Laila's had a busy weekend!

Hello Sweetie!
I just saw this update. A couple of thoughts after seeing the pix - the top is plywood, not particle board (not extremely important but fyi). The glue looks like construction adhesive. The pattern it leaves is fairly distinctive due to the way it is generally applied.
I would remove most of the adhesive with a paint scraper (the kind with the razor blade). Be careful, you don't want your hand to slip and end up cutting yourself.
As the top is clearly a rough grade of plywood, I wouldn't worry about sanding at all (or even trying to remove every last bit of the old adhesive). Just remove enough to level the surface up to be able to apply a new covering of your choice.
Good luck!

I know you're approaching finals, but have you made any progress on this project? Just curious how it's going.
